The Colourful Project

In 2008 Chihiro Uchida aka. Chihirock from Tokyo, Japan had been competing in park and street skating for a while. But because of the lack of girls in the skating scene Chihirock decided to dedicate her time to film, take photos and organize skate events for girls in Japan.

With help from good friends, and a strong mind and attitude towards getting change in the sport of skateboarding, the Colorful Project was founded.

We were only there for three weeks but we were in Kirra on the Gold Coast (:

so i stared longboarding, and i was wondering a few things. how do experienced longboarders push off the ground, and do it multiple times in a row, without running ahead of the board. cause that keeps happening to me. secondly, how do you turn? i know you're supposed to shift your weight from your heels to you toes and vice versa but every time i do it doesn't make a strong turn, only a slight slant. every time i try turning i lose my balance. sorry for it being long but i love your blog! (:

Urm, if you keep your front foot on the board as you push then you shouldn’t really run ahead of it, unless you’re putting too much weight on the pushing foot? You turn by leaning while putting pressure on your toes or whatever, but the amount your board turns depends on how much your leaning, but also how loose your trucks are! If they are really tight your board will hardly turn! It’s all about practise! And thanks (:

I absolutely love that you wear safety gear and promote the use of helmets etc! I've been skating about 3 years, and always wear a helmet. People who are hesitant to wear helmets because they'll look silly should realize that they'll look a lot sillier if they wind up a bedridden vegetable with someone else wiping their ass. Love the blog! (:
